Project Launch: Food Grinding Machine

The Giving Exchange has launched a new project in partnership with Action for Development of Grassroots Communities (ADEGCO) to bring a multipurpose grinding machine to the Kangole community in Uganda. This initiative is designed to transform the lives of families in the region by improving access to nutritious food, creating jobs, and supporting education.

Project Overview

The project involves setting up a grinding machine to process dried cassava, millet, sorghum, and sweet potatoes. Currently, women and girls in the Kangole community must travel up to 15 kilometers to access milling services, a time-consuming and exhausting task. With this new milling center in their community, families will have access to affordable and locally available food. The machine will run six days a week, processing around 5,900 kilograms of food per month. The income generated will not only sustain the project but also support additional community initiatives, such as providing school supplies to 30 children in need.

Mission

This project aims to tackle key challenges like malnutrition, unemployment, and limited access to education, especially for vulnerable girls and families. By empowering women with more time and resources, creating jobs, and fostering a stronger local economy, this initiative is building a healthier, more self-reliant community.

Project Measurements

The impact of this project will be measured through several key factors, including:

●     The amount of food processed monthly

●     Income generated to support the community

●     Reduction in travel time for women and girls

●     Educational support provided to children

●     Job creation and its impact on local families

●     Positive changes in health and nutrition within the community

This partnership between The Giving Exchange and ADEGCO is proof of how small, sustainable steps can lead to significant changes, uplifting not just individual households but entire communities.
