Project Launch: Tailoring and Embroidery with Kabatunda

The Giving Exchange’s latest project is aimed at empowering vulnerable women in the Kabatunda Kirabaho Town Council of Uganda. In partnership with Kabatunda Women Young Mothers (KBYM), we are set to provide tailoring, embroidery, and designing training to 60 women between the ages of 18-35 years.

KBYM has a mission to empower vulnerable women with essential skills for social and economic upliftment.

Project Overview

The project's primary objective is to equip women with tailoring, embroidery, and designing skills, along with enterprise development and business management training. With three cohorts of four months each and 20 beneficiaries per cohort, the project will span the course of a year, providing comprehensive skill-building opportunities to women in the community.

Through market research, the project identified a significant demand for tailoring and embroidery services in the region. With only two tailoring businesses currently operating, there is a vast untapped market waiting to be explored. The project aims to capitalize on this opportunity by offering unique embroidery designs and catering to local schools, churches, and neighboring communities.

And finally, a key aspect of the project is its focus on long-term sustainability. Beneficiaries will be equipped with the necessary skills and resources to continue their businesses independently. Moreover, they will be encouraged to train other community members, creating a ripple effect of empowerment.

Monitoring and Evaluation

The project seeks to address various challenges faced by women in the Kabatunda region, including low income, dependency, unemployment, and lack of self-sustaining skills. By providing training in tailoring, embroidery, and business management, the project aims to enhance the economic independence and livelihoods of these women.

Key performance indicators include number of women trained, number of microenterprises started, and increase in household income.

The launch of the Tailoring, Embroidery, and Designing Skills Training Project marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to empower women in the Kabatunda Kirabaho Town Council. Through skill-building and entrepreneurship, we envision a future where women can thrive independently and contribute meaningfully to their communities. With your support, we can make this vision a reality and create lasting positive change for generations to come.
