Project Launch: Boys Floriculture with Thrive Uganda

A new TGE project, Boys Floriculture, spearheaded by Thrive Uganda, aims to equip young boys from low-income households in the slums of Kasese Municipality with valuable skills in floriculture and landscaping, fostering economic empowerment and educational support.

Thrive Uganda enables young people to thrive with dignity and works to restore the environment. With compassion, love, and generosity at its core, the organization seeks to interrupt the cycle of intergenerational poverty in rural Uganda by providing youth with personal, financial, and nutritional support to continue their education or improve household livelihoods. Thrive Uganda believes that Education is the cornerstone to achieving economic security and personal career aspirations.

Project Details

Boys Floriculture will provide training to 20 boys aged between 13-18 years in floriculture and landscaping over a period of 9 months. The project will kickstart with the establishment of a floriculture greenhouse and training space, where boys will learn the skills necessary for flower farming and compound designing. Through online and radio FM marketing, the boys will promote their products and services, including flower plants and landscaping services, to local communities.

Empowering Through Education and Entrepreneurship

The project's goal is to create a sustainable social green enterprise, where the boys can generate income to support their education and livelihoods. With mentorship and business training provided by certified coaches, the beneficiaries will develop the necessary skills to thrive in the floriculture industry. Additionally, a water harvesting tank will be installed to ensure the continuous watering of flowers, minimizing operational costs.

Measuring Impact

Thrive Uganda will closely monitor the project's progress through various metrics, including the number of boys enrolled and completing the training, the quantity of flowers sold per month, and the income earned from flower sales and landscaping services. By empowering these boys with valuable skills and income-generating opportunities, the project aims to break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter future for generations to come.

Together, let's grow a future filled with hope, opportunity, and prosperity.
