3 Ways to Fundraise for a Cause

Fundraising is an excellent way for you to support an organization or cause you care about. Choosing what kind of fundraiser to hold is an important decision. Below we’ve listed three ways for you to fundraise.

1. START A FACEBOOK FUNDRAISER

Chances are most of your friends and family are on Facebook. Using this social platform offers a quick and easy way to get your fundraiser going. It only takes five steps to get your Facebook fundraiser set up. You can choose to have the donations go directly to a charity or nonprofit of your choice, or you can raise funds for personal use (such as the TGE Project Trip). After the fundraiser is ready to go, invite your friends and family to contribute to your goal.

With #GivingTuesday coming up in November, a Facebook fundraiser is a great choice to consider.

2. HOST AN EVENT

Traditional fundraisers are still a popular option when it comes to raising charitable funds. Hosting an event is a great way to not only reach out to friends and family for support, but also your community. A fundraising event also allows you to be creative. You can host a bake sale, a 5K race, or dinner. Other ideas include hosting a used book sale, commemorative potluck, game night, and more. Use your imagination to come up with an event that’s meaningful to you and your community so you can create the most impact.

3. CREATE A FUNDLY CAMPAIGN

Another online platform that’s gaining traction is Fundly. Crowdsourcing platforms give you the opportunity to reach a much larger audience than you otherwise would with a local event. Fundly allows you to post videos, photos, and blog-like content to gain interest and support. Once your fundraiser has been created you can share it on social platforms to get the word out about your goal. Your fundraiser will also appear on the Fundly site.

Crowdsourcing is a great way to gain support, but there is one drawback. Many crowdsourcing platforms charge some sort of fee for hosting your fundraiser. Fundly, for example, charges a platform fee as well as a credit card processing fee. Keep this in mind when choosing your fundraising method so you’re not surprised.
